Premier Doug Ford and Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy tabled their 2023 budget this afternoon at Queen’s Park. It was the government’s first post-pandemic budget and saw Minister Bethlenfalvy wind down previous COVID measures like paid sick days. Instead, the focus was on long-term funding for infrastructure, health care, job creation, and building a skilled workforce.
It is a budget trying to strike a balance. It’s doubling down on Premier Ford’s “Building Ontario” mantra with targeted investments for job creators and everyday workers. At the same time, it’s touting the need for fiscal restraint.
