OTTAWA – January 13, 2021 – Summa Strategies, one of Canada’s leading public affairs companies, today announced a series of additions and promotions to start the new year.
At the beginning of January, Rob LeForte was hired as a senior consultant. Prior to joining Summa, Rob spent over six years at another government relations firm in Ottawa where he honed his skills in digital advocacy, infrastructure, health, retail and transportation.
Long-time senior consultants, Alex Maheu and Shay Purdy, have been each promoted to the position of Vice President. Mentored under Summa’s late president, Tracey Hubley, Alex leads the company’s defence practice as well as many of its procurement files. Shay Purdy is Summa’s legislative procedure guru and a recognized expert in the areas of technology, innovation and culture.
Lastly, Daniel Perry has been made a full Consultant. A graduate of Carleton University’s Master of Political Management program, Daniel has been with Summa since May of 2019 and brings with him extensive experience in Conservative politics. He was recently selected as a 2020 Doug Finley Scholar.
“The strength of Summa Strategies has always been our ability to attract and nurture top talent,” said newly named President, Robin MacLachlan. “Rob, Alex, Shay and Daniel are just the latest examples of this. Their dedication, passion and commitment to client service play an important role in the success of our strong team of consultants.”
“Last year was very challenging – not only with COVID, but also due to the sudden and very tragic death of Tracey Hubley,” said Summa Chairman Tim Powers. “This company is an important part of her legacy so we’ve all rededicated ourselves to working hard, having fun and worrying a little bit less. We’d also like to thank our clients, the Ottawa government relations community and Tracey’s friends for being so generous in their support of the Tracey J. Hubley Scholarship for Community Leadership at the University of Prince Edward Island. We’ve been very touched by your donations.”
Rounding out the ownership group at Summa Strategies is newly-named Vice Chair Kate Harrison and Jim Armour who is now the firm’s Managing Partner. The Honourable Douglas Young remains part of Summa as Chairman Emeritus.
